Busy Legal Department of large corporation has a need for a Legal Intern. Candidate will be responsible for supporting Legal Department professionals who manage a variety of corporate legal matters. Anticipated duration of the internship is 12 to 24 months.
Successful candidate will have attention to detail, be a self-starter, and thrive in a professional and fast paced environment. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

With assistance and management of Legal Department professionals, responsibilities may include:
• Create and maintain files for legal matters.
• Administer data entry and maintenance of legal matters tracking database; assist with review and compilation of periodic reporting from legal matters tracking database.
• Manage flow of information and documents to and from outside counsel, including discovery, case filings, billing, new case assignments, and introductions to company personnel.
• Handle the administration of litigation hold memos sent to participants in legal matters.
• Coordinate and gather information from business operators and various corporate departments.
• Investigate pre-litigation complaints and assist with drafting responses to the complaints.
• Research and summarize new local, state, and federal laws and case law on a variety of topics.
• Finalize and facilitate settlements, including coordinating with outside counsel and Treasury Department regarding written agreements, payment, and timing.
• Participate in contract review projects and analyze and subjectively review documents and contracts using specific criteria.
• Administer data entry and maintenance of contracts tracking database; assist with review and compilation of periodic reporting from contracts tracking database.

• Bachelor’s Degree and has recently taken or is planning to take the LSAT in the next 12 months or is currently enrolled in law school, OR
• Is a candidate for Bachelor’s Degree and is considering attending law school but seeks to obtain practical experience in a corporate legal setting prior to enrolling.
• Availability to work at least 15 hours per week during the school year and summer.
Availability to work at the corporate office in Charlotte, NC at least one day a week during the entire internship. The remaining hours per week will be completed remotely.
• Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal.
