Job Summary

AstraZeneca Safety, Health and Environment is searching for a SHE Training Specialist to support their Training and Technology unit in Gaithersburg. The role involves creating, organizing, planning, and presenting various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training to employees. The specialist will work with subject matter experts to develop unique training content that caters to the specific needs of employees to improve or maintain job skills. They will also create and acquire training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.

The following are the responsibilities associated with the role of a Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Training Specialist:

Creating training templates and messaging templates to be used in emails, internal social media platforms, and site intranet
Maintaining an electronic management system for record-keeping and reporting, and distributing reports to monitor training compliance.
Ensuring that training materials are procured and readily available prior to the start of training sessions.
Managing the SHE Training calendar and coordinating logistics for all SHE training, including scheduling personnel and conference rooms for instructor-led sessions.
Ensuring that external vendors are appropriately contracted, with Service Level Agreements and Purchase Orders in place, before delivery of training.
Managing, monitoring, and responding to SHE Department and Training mailboxes and handling employee issues and requests.
Coordinating administrative aspects of training such as securing rooms, scheduling training, and communicating the training schedule.
Collaborating with subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver training methods, and assisting in the design of computer-based and multimedia curricula.
Assisting in managing Site Safety, Laboratory, Manufacturing, and Industrial Hygiene documents to ensure compliance and proper formatting.
Promoting training and other opportunities for employees within the company.
Identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices at the workplace.
Supporting the site by communicating requirements, developing initial training schedules, and presenting general classes.
Investigating events, observations, action plans, etc. to identify causes and provide recommendations.
Maintaining documentation of our safety procedures, accidents, and related events.
Supporting the Safety, Health and Environment, and Sustainability lead as needed.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES: 

The candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should possess excellent customer service skills and be comfortable in making phone calls.

The position requires excellent follow-up, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite, creating videos, and working with sound and recording are necessary.

The candidate should be able to work effectively in a team environment, possess strong writing skills, and be able to interact with all levels of the organization.

The person in this position should be able to move around within the site frequently to access other areas on site, as well as access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage time appropriately is necessary.

Top-notch administrative, research, and troubleshooting skills are required.

The candidate should be able to lift 25 pounds to a height of 3-4 feet.

Working knowledge of all applicable regulations, including OSHA, EPA, etc., is a plus.

Knowledge of learning management systems is a plus.

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

A Bachelor’s degree is desirable, while a Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience working in the bio-pharmaceutical industry or corporate setting is beneficial.

Experience with Cornerstone SBX, Nucleus, SharePoint, Storyline Articulate, and Adobe Sign is desired.
