Job Summary

The Sr. Manager of Operations provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that our company has the proper operational controls and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and ensure its financial strength and operating efficiency. The position requires an experienced operations executive who has the ability to generate significant impact through the strategic and tactical direction of their distribution center, while improving financial efficiency and maintaining client satisfaction. Lead, direct and develop department heads through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the mission and objectives of the company.


Key Duties:

Financial: Has a working knowledge of general accounting practices and significant experience managing operational expenses associated with labor, equipment, and facility maintenance. Competently plan and execute annual budgets and forecasts. Accurately develop and provide analysis of operational budgets and trends related to the business.

People: Responsible for leading a diverse team of 50-100 staff members in accordance with the employment policies of the Company, local, and federal governments. Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development. Implement and maintain effective open-door communication across all associates. Motivate and lead a high-performance management team of 3-4 direct reports. Foster a success-oriented, fair, and accountable environment for all associates.

Safety/QC: Be the leader in the development, implementation and administration of facility safety and security functions. Promote superior health and safety practices of the company’s associates, clients, products, and visitors throughout the daily operation. Provide strong working knowledge of OSHA and DOT record keeping and training requirements. Understand government regulations pertinent to our safe operation and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, and requirements. Experienced participation in comprehensive compliance audits as conducted by OSHA, DOT, FDA, Dept. of Health, Silliker Labs, with a proven track record of satisfactory audit results.

Customer Service: Responsible for maintaining effective customer service for all internal and external customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of company products and programs. Establish rapport and product confidence with customers by providing quality and efficient service through the daily management of our team. Troubleshoot potential issues and help resolve existing client problems.

Procurement/Inventory: Design and execute strategies to meet short-term and long-term supply chain management requirements. Manage supplier service requirements including vendor products, fill rate, and schedule requirements. Plan and monitor the receiving, storage and distribution of all items to ensure a smooth and consistent operation as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements. Develop and monitor procedures for inventory monitoring and cost controls associated with shrink, slow and dead, and short shelf life items.

Additional Responsibilites:


Fleet/Equipment: Considerable operational experience in logistics, equipment maintenance, and fleet management software tools such as ELDs. Strong working knowledge of DOT requirements related to maintaining a commercial fleet and compliance regulations regarding employment of professional drivers. Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements related to lift equipment, maintenance, and required associate training.

Operational: Formulate and administer company policies while directing and coordinating all departmental activities. Develop and implement long range goals to meet business and profitability objectives. Analyze operational activities and costs against forecast data to determine departmental status. Confer with department heads to review achievements/challenges and discuss required changes resulting from current progress or conditions. Oversee key projects, processes and performance reports. Resolve facility issues to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s level degree.
  • +5 years Warehousing and Food Distribution experience
  • Evidence of strong project management, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient at oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be adaptable to change and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently
  • Organized and has a high attention to detail
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
