Position: Senior Staff Accountant
Location: University of Alaska, Fairbanks

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. What You’ll Do:
In this role, you’ll take ownership of critical accounting processes while fostering communication and resolving financial challenges. Your contributions will support our teams in achieving accurate financial projections and enhancing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily bank records and ensure cash transaction accountability
- Oversee monthly Profit/Loss and balance sheet activity
- Review and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Resolve accounting/reconciliation issues efficiently
- Assist with comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage daily deposits, credit card transactions, and cash reports
- Implement inventory and cost control procedures
- Lead Payroll and Human Resources administration
- Take on special projects to drive improvement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent professional experience
- A minimum of two years of experience with revenue control and cash handling responsibilities
- Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required, foodservice operations experience a plus
- Ability to prepare monthly financial statements, key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses
- Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes as well as analyzing moderately complex financial information
- Experience with sales analysis and reporting
- Experience with POS, cash and credit card reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships
- Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior
