Bon Appetit Food Management is searching for a Sous Chef to join our team at the Chase Center, Home of the World Champion Golden State Warriors in San Francisco, CA. The sous chef directly supervises kitchen staff with responsibility for inspiring, coaching, and performance management. They are responsible for maintaining food safety, sanitary and safety standards in the workplace. They will work hand-in-hand with the Executive Chef and Department leadership to maintain cuisine standards. In this leadership role, the sous chef serves as a role model and mentor to the kitchen staff and must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Multi-unit restaurant, hotel/resort, banquet and catering operations experience and a deep multi-cultural knowledge of food preparation highly preferred. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proven track record of purchasing & inventory control while maintaining cost of goods and staying within labor budgets. Computer literacy is necessary. Job Summary

Working as the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for a facility. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates and you work with Executive Chef/Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial Culinary professional.

Qualifications and Responsibilities
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef in high-volume industry-leading complex food service operations such as catering companies, hotels, resorts and convention centers.

  • Certificate or degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • ServSafe and Food Safety Handler certifications required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed.
  • Exceedingly organized. Strong planning and forecasting skills to lead production schedules and par amounts.
  • Maintains and monitors sanitation, safe food handling practices, and workplace safety in food service operations as required by company policy OSHA, State, and Federal guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in specialized diet/allergen aware food production
  • Make periodic and regular inspection at events to observe quality of food preparation and service, food appearance, cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, equipment, and employee appearance.
  • Proven ability to direct staff clearly and concisely while positively influencing employee behavior and performance. Thorough knowledge and application of California labor laws within union framework.
  • Ensures great guest service through consistent execution of all menus and recipes, training, monitoring and accountability of the culinary team in execution.
  • Lead and cook by example and provide guidance to all team members. Ensure kitchen operations are established and can run smoothly, safely and efficiently in your absence.
  • Maintain recipes, portion specifications, and standard preparation procedures for all dishes and ensure that all cooks are following these standards.
  • Maintains openness and willingness to learn new techniques and improve abilities.
  • Think quickly, multitask, and adapt to changing situations while maintaining the highest quality of product and other established standards.
  • Ability to navigate and utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), appropriate project management software and any other required operating machines (i.e. cooking machinery).
  • Skilled in direct interaction with guests.
