  • We are hiring immediately for an ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER position.
  • Location: Biola University, 13800 Biola Ave, La Mirada, CA 90639. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full-Time; primarily Tuesday to Saturday, 10 to 8. Hours may vary.
  • Details: Higher education account with residential dining, retail, and catering. Main Cafe is open 7 days a week serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Responsibilities of the Assistant General Manager include: 
    • Oversees that high-quality food items are creatively well prepared and presented in a cost-effective manner in the café, retail, and catering. 
    • Maintains Bon Appétit food standards and follows purchasing guidelines in all programs, including farm to fork. 
    • Meets and exceeds the expectations of the customer and client's perceived value.
    • Embraces both Bon Appetit Culture and Clients Culture 
    • Supervises staff and holds them accountable to follow the employee handbook and established account guidelines. 
    • Conducts Manager reviews with staff, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Requirement: Previous supervision/management experience in high-volume food service operations. Great communication and computer skills. General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures. Strong passion for great food. College degree.
  • Starting Pay:  $75,000 - 85,000 per year

Job Summary

Summary: As an Assistant General Manager I, you will be responsible for assisting with running the day- to-day food service operation of a medium to large volume location.  You will manage and lead a team of associates and oversee quality controls for the account. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assists with managing food service operations in accordance with the approved budget while providing the client with the maximum value for the dollars spent.
  • Ensures the food offered to the client, customers, and employees of the operation is of superior quality.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with associates, guests, and client as well as other departments within the operation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




  • 2 to 4 years of food service management experience.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Comprehensive food knowledge.
  • Operations management experience with purchasing knowledge.
  • Financial experience and business acumen skills.
  • ServSafe Certification is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • Associate’s degree is preferred.
