Job Summary
The Associate General Counsel/Sr. Corporate Counsel is responsible for negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and management agreements with Levy’s key business partners, with oversight from the General Counsel, overseeing new business RFPs, and overseeing and managing contracting for Levy’s outside vendors. The role will have a direct reporting relationship to the General Counsel. The role is based in Chicago, with a hybrid work schedule.
Job Responsibilities
Directly negotiating, drafting, and advising on RFPs, commercial contracts and management agreements on Levy’s behalf.
- Drafting and advising on all types of contracts, including but not limited to contracts related to all outside vendors, including temporary service agencies, non-for-profit organizations, subcontractors, and licensees, as well as other commercial contracting issues.
- Ensuring compliance with Levy policies, including overseeing contracting compliance for Levy’s outside vendors.
- Identifying and assessing legal risks and opportunities within areas or responsibility and educating clients and business partners accordingly.
- Overseeing compliance with subpoenas and information requests.
- Independently handling legal matters or projects.
- Providing sound legal advice to business leadership and internal clients on strategies, actions and decisions related to commercial contacts, and recognizing when the advice of more senior counsel or outside counsel is appropriate.
- Advocating company’s interests in assigned matters.
- Serving as an indispensable partner to location management.
- Ensuring adherence to time-sensitive deadlines.
EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of legal experience at law firm or in-house position.
- A strong background in commercial contracts and general corporate law.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions.
- Familiarity with hospitality/food service industry a plus.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D. from an accredited law school, including active bar membership.
- Demonstrated superior collaboration and relationship building skills.
- Outstanding critical reasoning and analytical skills, punctuated with common sense.
- Successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to identify and analyze diverse contractual issues and effectively communicate conclusions to business management.
