Job Summary

We’re searching for a visionary Campus Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations at California State University, Monterey Bay located in Seaside, CA. As the senior-most culinarian on campus, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the dining and catering programs, driving both creativity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary Innovation: Develop and implement creative solutions that exceed the expectations of our customers and clients.
Menu Mastery: Lead the development of menus for both dining and catering programs, ensuring each dish reflects our commitment to quality and innovation.
Event Leadership: Collaborate with internal and external clients to manage catering events from concept to execution.
Resource Management: Maintain inventory levels within established guidelines, ensuring necessary products are available without overstocking.
Team Development: Train and mentor kitchen staff on food preparation, safety protocols, and equipment operation, fostering a culture of excellence.
Financial Stewardship: Meet and exceed food and labor financial targets through smart budgeting and cost control.
Quality Assurance: Uphold the highest standards by following standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation, while ensuring every dish is taste-tested for perfection.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as evidenced by stellar audit results.
Community Engagement: Participate in departmental meetings and professional development programs to stay at the forefront of industry trends.


Preffered Qualifications

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
  • Experience in high-volume, hands-on foodservice operations.
  • Must be experienced with computers.
  • ServSafe® Certified.
