Job Summary

Working as The Catering Director for Chartwells at The Juilliard School and The School of American Ballet, you will lead all catering operations on campus. You will work closely with key members of the campus community and catering clients every day, and lead your staff, book events, build client relations, provide appropriate quotes and invoicing, along with ensuring the catering offered to our guests and students is of outstanding quality. This role requires a NYC DOH Food Handler's Certificate within the first 30 days of employment, paid for by Chartwells. Detailed understanding of technology and catering booking software, excellent communication and customer relations skills are a must!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and is responsible for internal and external catering events
  • Works with the General Manager to Develop and maintain the catering marketing plan including a comprehensive event planning service to clients and detailed menu development
  • Takes part in hiring, training, and scheduling catering staff, and will be actively involved in the development of existing catering staff in-service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure successful operations of catering functions including labor cost control, foods cost control and preparation, management of transportation, setup, operation, and cleanup of all events
  • Work as the key point of contact for communications of all special and VIP reception events
  • Works with the campus and organization culinary teams to elevate catering services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability in the hospitality industry including 4 years experience (preferably Catering Management) is required
  • Booking, selecting and costing menu items, pricing contracts, and resourcing temporary help and equipment experience is key
  • The ability to supervise food preparation, par levels, appropriate staffing, service, and cleanup is crucial
  • Clear articulate communications (verbal, written and electronic) with clients, guests and team members is required
