Job Summary
Working as Athletics Grounds Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the athletic fields & surrounding areas at Palm Beach Atlantic University. You will be responsible for successfully coordinating all work activities of grounds personnel. You will also supervise, direct, and develop hourly employees in accordance with company guidelines, & ensure customer satisfaction through high quality standards, while maintaining an environment that is safe & equitable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees an effective, proactive, detailed management plan for all playing surfaces & landscaped areas
- Develop, implement, adjust cultural management calendars that coincide with budget & contractual scope
- Track sports schedules and adjust management practices to fit these schedules
- Develops, implements & manages budgets in compliance with company guidelines
- Provide & track preventative maintenance on all equipment
- Develops & maintains working relationships with client, coaches, University administration, etc
- Perform daily field inspections, ensuring the safety & consistency of the playing surfaces
- Cross trains and develops employees for multiple positions
- Trains employees in grounds management methods, procedures & proper operation of equipment
- Guides completion on projects to make sure they are completed timely and within budget
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of both baseball/softball field management
- Minimum of two years in a supervisory role in Grounds Management, Golf Course, Athletic Field Management, with emphasis on Baseball & Softball
- Higher education in turfgrass, agronomy, horticulture, or other Green Industry related field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially client communication
- Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one &in group situations
- Ability to engage & motivate staff
- Understanding of budgeting processes & awareness of profit and loss concepts
- Excellent administrative &organizational skills & an ability to prioritize
