General Description:

We are looking for a student studying Human Resources to work closely with the Cal Poly Campus Dining Human Resources team. The key focus areas for this internship will be in Recruitment and Staffing, HR Administration, Associate Engagement, Compliance, and Training. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to apply the skills they have learned and apply them in a professional setting.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in human resources, business or other relevant degree.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Advanced interpersonal, analytical, listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Articulate and detail oriented
  • Computer skills including intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Job Responsibilities (May include any or all):

  • Build upon local recruitment activity. Assist in the posting and monitoring of job requisitions. Participate in career fairs.
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets to ensure records are being maintained accurately and consistently.
  • Manage the Hourly Onboarding process and timely completion of I-9s for new hires.
  • Assist with the development of and participate in YouFirst and all Campus Dining recognition programs.
  • Effectively interact and collaborate with managers, associates, and candidates.
  • Communicate at all levels to obtain necessary information to complete duties listed above.
  • Completion of various assignments and projects as warranted by workloads and business priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience opportunities to learn, observe, and practice in the field of Human Resource Management.
