Position Title: QA (Health & Safety) Manager

Reports To: Director of Quality Assurance

Salary: $85,000-$100,000

Job Summary

The QA manager will mainly focus on all food safety and workplace safety of RA employees and Googlers alike, maintaining compliance to all local , state and federal health codes. The QA Manager will follow up on any accident reports or food related incidence consistent with the Google food program and ensure sanitation standards are met for the food safety of all Googlers and associates. Serve as a liaison between building services and vendor partners to communicate immediate health risks and facility issues. Maintain all Health permits per unit, while achieving a minimum score of an A (or similar as per NYC DOH) health code and client expectations.

This role is based in New York, NY.

The Great Things You Will Do:

Sanitation

  • Conduct unit trainings on food safety for Associates and Managers (assist management in training hourly associates on following proper HACCP practices)

  • Engage hourly associates and managers in utilizing the proper tools (logs, thermometers, checklists). Monitor associate health and hygiene.

  • Provide pre-Meal trainings food safety points of the day with managers and hourly associates

  • Ensure logs are in place and updated on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in each unit (refrigeration, food cooling, food holding etc)

  • Monitor monthly BOH cleaning schedules in each unit

  • Assist in providing corrective action plans and solutions with chefs & managers for each unit for HSS, DOH and NSF inspections

  • Conduct monthly food sanitation meetings

  • Assist in following up to complaints regarding food borne illness and food related injuries

  • Follow up to DOH permit renewals for each unit

  • Follow up on all DOH violations including but not limiting to DOH Tribunal

  • Set up food sanitation and safety standards for new units

  • Create punch list and follow up on new unit deficiencies before opening

  • Lead liaison to DOH, NSF and HSS audits/inspections

Safety

  • Engage in role as Regional Safety Champion to reduce or eliminate accidents

  • Ensure compliance of safety standards set by Compass and Google

  • Follow up with unit safety champions regarding implemented safety procedures including but not limiting to

    • HAZCOM trainings, cut gloves, slip resistant shoes, wet floor signs, safety checklist, PPE , chemical training,Basic Knife Skills, temperature control, etc).

  • Assist unit safety champions in conducting trainings through pre-meals, safety compliance reviews and other forums

  • Assist in Fire Safety with BET

Other Focus Areas

  • Conduct quarterly inspections in Micro Kitchens , periodic inspections of MK store Room.

  • Assist Chef/ Managers in follow up corrective action plans

  • Work with building services to help monitor and reduce pest activity

  • Ensure all PPE compliance is in order

  • Participate in monthly and quarterly safety calls with RA & Regional QA calls with Google

  • Participate with building services to ensure waste stream is being maintained and followed

  • Maintain open dialog with building and facilities team in monthly meetings

  • Communicate with Regional Executive Chef, Executive Chef, Unit chefs, BOH & FOH managers, Directors, HR, and VP.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 5 to 10 years kitchen experience

  • Or 3 to 5 years field experience as inspector

  • Ability to work independently producing positive results

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to teach and train various skills and subjects to individuals and small groups pertaining to safety & sanitation

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety

  • Ability to problem solve and give pragmatic solutions

  • Knowledge of local and state Health Code

  • Understand HACCP

  • ServSafe certified and possess a valid a DOH Food Protection card
