Job Summary
***This role is located in our Charlotte headquarters and offers a hybrid work schedule.***
Compass Group, the world’s leading contract foodservice company, has a great opportunity for career development and growth here at its North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC as a Senior Developer with Accounting Services’ Business Intelligence and Projects team.
Our team creates and supports workflow automation for accounting teams and their business process, which includes accounting uploads/entries, account reconciliation, accounting close and reporting, internal controls and workforce/task management. Applications and tools, such as Power Automate, are used to automate manual repetitive tasks and processes saving time and reducing errors.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve or fix software products and develop functional knowledge
- Analyze and understand user requirements and business processes and ensure that they are incorporated into software designs and code
- Design, develop, and maintain both new and existing code
- Work with management to define project scope, objectives and deliverables
- Prioritize and manage projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Review peers’ code to enforce good software design standards and ensure high-quality function and performance
- Perform extensive software testing, debugging, and full validation procedures
- Troubleshoot, resolve software bugs timely in the programming code and modify documentation as necessary
- Update existing applications, correcting errors, adapting to new hardware or improving performance
- Participate in Agile software development, SCRUM, and daily standups to ensure quick iterations and fast delivery
- Develop strong relationships within the Accounting Services department(s) and the broader Compass organization
- Continuously learn, innovate and grow as a professional, meet and collaborate with peers to promote technology knowledge sharing
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have extensive software product development experience using SQL Server, the .Net core framework, Azure DevOps, and Agile development methodologies. This role requires a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end product development, as well as a strong ability to understand and collaborate with various accounting functional teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions.
- Four-year degree in Information Systems/Computer Science; MS Accounting or MBA is a plus
- 5+ years of working experience
- Accounting or finance back-office environment experience
- Excellent problem-solving, process improvement and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Positive and enthusiastic approach to deliver solutions to business customers
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Experience with SAP or other large ERP
- Experience with a large and complex data sets
- Robotic process automation and or scripting e.g. Power Automate and PowerShell
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies such as XHTML or PowerApps
- Experience with server-side programming using C# and ASP.NET
- Familiarity with database technologies and experience in database design and optimization
- Advanced reporting skills preferred - Power Query, Power BI, Excel
- Ability to create new and support existing SQL, Python or legacy VB code or Access databases
- Experience with ETL/ELT
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
